Philip Landowski For Wisconsin Assembly

Wait and see.

- Will Obama repeal Patriot Acts I and II as well as reversing Bush’s signing statement and acknowledging the repeal of the John Warner Defense Authorization Act?

- Will Obama support Dennis Kucinich’s efforts to bring war crimes charges against Bush, Cheney and others for deceiving the country into a war or will he protect them against such charges like Nancy Pelosi has done?

- Will Obama bring war crimes charges against Bush, Cheney and others for authorizing torture and will the torture of suspects under U.S. detention, a complete violation of both the Constitution and the Geneva Conventions, cease under an Obama administration?

- Will Obama withdraw American troops from Iraq and Afghanistan without sending them away again to bomb another broken-backed third world country in the name of a UN-supported “humanitarian” war?

- Will Obama end the warrantless secret surveillance and phone-taps of American citizens?

- Will Obama follow through on his rhetorical support for the second amendment or will he seek to ban guns as he did in Illinois?

- Will Obama cease his support for the Bush-administration backed banker bailouts, hated by the majority of Americans, and target the real cause of the problem - the Federal Reserve - or will he continue to give taxpayers’ money to banks who are merely hoarding it all for themselves?

- Will Obama seek to continue the militarization of America and preparations for martial law through Northcom and the secret government or will he dismantle the police state that has been constructed over the last eight years by the Bush administration?

Time will tell.

President Andrew Jackson on the Bank Bailout

You are a den of vipers. I intend to rout you out and by the Eternal God I will rout you out. If the people only understood the rank injustice of our money and banking system, there would be a revolution before morning.

-Andrew Jackson, President, Father of the Democratic Party, opposer of the formation of a central bank
1828

Most of our representatives sold out to this rank proposal of salvation that solidifies and enhances the stranglehold by the very ones who created this disaster - the privately owned Federal Reserve.

How you were represented:

(D) David Obey - supported

(D) Ron Kind - supported

(D) Gwen Moore - supported

(D) Tammy Baldwin - supported

(R) Paul Ryan - supported

(D) Herb Kohl - supported

(D) Russ Feingold - opposed

(R) Jim Sensenbrenner - opposed

(R) Thomas Petri - opposed

(D) Steve Kagen - opposed

No partisan blame fest will ever reveal the true source of why things are so bad and bound to get much worse.  The true source, the privately owned Federal Reserve, operates outside the illusional sphere of republican and democrat.  I urge all readers to search this out for yourselves.  It is of urgent importance that we look at what is going on and what these ‘packages’ really offer us, and take active measures to inform others on  the significance of what our own representatives have levied on us for generations to come, and make the extra effort that it will take to remove this loathsome lot.

What really happens when the privately owned ‘Federal’ Reserve declares it will lower interest rates and little more background on the heroics of Andrew Jackson:

The end is the beginning

We did well.  We jumped into this totally green in the beginning of June and pulled in 24% of the vote in just three months.  Imagine what we will do in next two years.

Thank you to all who supported this effort with time, money and talent.  Thank you to my wife Jill for her tireless diligence on the home front and constant encouragement.  Thank you to those that believed in the message and voted on principle.  Your effort will not be in vain.

This site will remain.  I hope you will subscribe (free).  By doing so you will simply be notified of new info being posted to the site.  In the next two years we’re going to take a closer look around inside the belly of the beast we call State Government.  You’ll be surprised what we find.  I guarantee it.

And two years from now…

I’ll be back.

Landowski signs Taxpayer Protection Pledge

The only way to curb spending is to hold the line on taxes.  This isn’t radical, its not ‘republican’, this is sensible.  Democratic Representative Wasserman on the North side has done it.  Democratic Representative Ziegelbauer in Manitowoc gets it.  I joined their ranks in signing the Americans for Tax Reform’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

As I’ve said before - the democratic tradition is not one of excessive taxation and spending.  It’s been a while but the realization is catching on that there is no need to relinquish to one party or the other the sensible idea of wise management of taxpayer money .

Announcement: 20th Assembly District Candidate Debate

Many thanks to the Garden District Neighborhood Association who have set up this debate in order for voters to make an informed decision. A big thank you as well to the Clarion Hotel for providing the space.

When: Thursday, September 4th at 7:30 PM

Where: Clarion Hotel. 5311 S. Howell Ave. Milwaukee 53221. Click here for a map.

From what I’ve heard the debate will be moderated by Alderman Terry Witkowski.

The other challenger, Steve Sutherland, refuses to attend the debate. “I have no desire to enter into a discussion with the other candidates or the people,” Sutherland said to one event organizer that previously set up a forum for candidates to talk about issues and answer questions from voters.

I look forward to meeting with those attending and I am eager to discuss the issues. Don’t miss it!

Affirmation from where you’d least expect

In my last post I proposed reduced spending and going back to reality by way of a part time legislature …for starters.

From the Journal Sentinel reporting on the 8th Assembly district race:

Colón counters that being a legislator is not a full-time job.

If it’s not full time then why is it full time?

Go figure.

on taxes and spending -Part 1

From the Democratic party platform, circa 1932:

We advocate an immediate and drastic reduction of governmental expenditures by abolishing useless commissions and offices, consolidating departments and bureaus, and eliminating extravagance to accomplish a saving of not less than twenty-five per cent in the cost of the Federal Government. And we call upon the Democratic Party in the states to make a zealous effort to achieve a proportionate result.

I was asked recently how I propose to reduce spending so as to hold the line on taxes and fees. I think an attitude adjustment based on economic reality is first in order. As the above quote soundly affirms, big, fat, engorging government is not a Democratic tradition. Neither is reduced spending and lower taxation a mantra that Republicans can rightfully call their own, nor one that they’ve claimed effectively.

I’m appealing to common sense and constituents of this district- not the latest partisan mambe pambe that happens to be in vogue.

So where might one begin? Here’s one that’s certain to draw out the knives on both sides of the aisle:

Part-time legislature.

Repeal the gasoline minimum markup law

Is there really much more that needs to be said? The law was enacted in 1939 during an economic/business scenario that was the reversal of what we have today. The law no longer protects anything other than big business at the expense of consumers.

At what expense exactly? Nearly $1 BILLION dollars per year. That’s right. Nearly $1 BILLION in guaranteed income over the wholesale cost that dealers pay for fuel.  That’s 30 cents per gallon.

Our current representative certainly hasn’t risen to challenge these protected interests. I will.

Federal Trade Commission’s evaluation of minimum markup law in WI - a report made on the inquiry of former assembly leader Sherry Krugg (D). This report debunks many of false claims being perpetrated by special interests vying to maintain the minimum markup.
