Philip Landowski For Wisconsin Assembly

Government Accountability Board: Delinquent Reports 5 months outstanding

The Wisconsin Government Accountability Board (G.A.B.) has announced that it will file lawsuits against eight candidates for the Legislature alleged to have failed to file campaign finance reports which were due on February 2nd under Wisconsin law…

The G.A.B. has not received the required campaign finance reports from four incumbent legislators…The candidates who have not filed reports and their legislative districts, according to the Board’s records are:

Rep. Tamara Grigsby (D) 18th Assembly District
Rep. Scott Newcomer (R) 33rd Assembly District
Rep. Christine Sinicki (D) 20th Assembly District
Rep. Annette Polly Williams (D) 10th Assembly District

Perhaps nothing more than lack of oversight for five months and counting.

My oral message to the State Budget Hearing Committee at State Fair Park

Members of the committee I am a typical Milwaukee taxpayer that is outraged over the methodology that has destroyed Wisconsin fiscal policy for far more than a decade. I’m part of the new crop – the younger taxpayer that will be paying for supporters of this budget’s undoing for years to come. There is only one thing on our minds: The incompetence of the Wisconsin lawmakers on both sides, in following a continual program of spend-on-credit to the benefit of the noisy few at the expense of the quiet majority.

I’m not going to be quiet anymore. And taxpayers I’m talking to are not going to put up with it anymore. As I see it, anyone that says “yes” to the increases to the state’s budget and taxation is an enemy of the contributing citizens of this state and anathema of common sense. The rhetoric of giving in to the tune of reluctant compromise doesn’t cut it either.

The accounting sleight of hand games on the budget deficit are going to be exposed for what they are – illegal under the Wisconsin constitution. The subsidizing of out of state ethanol producers is going to be exposed for what it is – a complete scam under the false pretense of ‘green’ legislation all the while being scientifically proven to pollute the environment more – not less. The roads are like a war zone not because we didn’t have the money – but because the money was STOLEN from its stated appropriation. This state is broke – not because of drop in revenue, but because Wisconsin legislators have sucked it dry through mal-investment that benefits only a few- The numbers don’t lie.

Is that is the legacy elected representatives want to heap on themselves ?

The game is up. And I will take action. I will be instructing those on my lists and website on how to conduct open records queries so we can get to the bottom of who is really pulling the strings here. I personally know in my district alone – there is a growing army of fed up taxpayers –who couldn’t make it to a meeting conveniently scheduled during their work commitment. But we will be taking the time outside of work to make sure this mismanagement is halted.

I oppose this budget in every aspect – and in particular the suckling of federal funds in exchange for $2 BILLION in tax increases. In the face of economic recession and a steep drop in the dollar’s purchasing power, it is absolute lunacy that we are even considering tax increases along with more and NEW spending. Have any here read ANY economic policy history? If so you would know that revenues INCREASE, when the tax burden is decreased. And that reality does not stray from this simple observation.

More than money speaks

Congratulations to Rose Fernandez who proceeds to face off the entrenched Deputy Superintendent Tony Evers for Wisconsin’s Superintendent of Public Instruction on April 7th.

More on the latest here.

He [Evers] has experience doing everything that WEAC tells him to do,” Fernandez said.

…If that doesn’t pretty much sum it up then this should:

Evers raised $74,004 through Feb. 2 and then reported another $22,125 in late contributions in the week leading up to the primary.

…Meanwhile, Fernandez had reported raising less than $3,500 for her campaign through the pre-primary period. But she loaned her campaign $4,000 last week and received $3,500 in late contributions, according to a report filed with the Government Accountability Board.

If WEAC wants to wield thier golden wrecking ball against progressive educational ideas that work and the proponents behind them I say let them.  This is the era of busted economics - all that swinging will at some point soon find it’s blowback and hopefully lend a hand in sealing the end of one of the most backward ‘educational’ establishments in the country.

In the meantime, I’m sure Rose could use our support.

Wait and see.

- Will Obama repeal Patriot Acts I and II as well as reversing Bush’s signing statement and acknowledging the repeal of the John Warner Defense Authorization Act?

- Will Obama support Dennis Kucinich’s efforts to bring war crimes charges against Bush, Cheney and others for deceiving the country into a war or will he protect them against such charges like Nancy Pelosi has done?

- Will Obama bring war crimes charges against Bush, Cheney and others for authorizing torture and will the torture of suspects under U.S. detention, a complete violation of both the Constitution and the Geneva Conventions, cease under an Obama administration?

- Will Obama withdraw American troops from Iraq and Afghanistan without sending them away again to bomb another broken-backed third world country in the name of a UN-supported “humanitarian” war?

- Will Obama end the warrantless secret surveillance and phone-taps of American citizens?

- Will Obama follow through on his rhetorical support for the second amendment or will he seek to ban guns as he did in Illinois?

- Will Obama cease his support for the Bush-administration backed banker bailouts, hated by the majority of Americans, and target the real cause of the problem - the Federal Reserve - or will he continue to give taxpayers’ money to banks who are merely hoarding it all for themselves?

- Will Obama seek to continue the militarization of America and preparations for martial law through Northcom and the secret government or will he dismantle the police state that has been constructed over the last eight years by the Bush administration?

Time will tell.

President Andrew Jackson on the Bank Bailout

You are a den of vipers. I intend to rout you out and by the Eternal God I will rout you out. If the people only understood the rank injustice of our money and banking system, there would be a revolution before morning.

-Andrew Jackson, President, Father of the Democratic Party, opposer of the formation of a central bank
1828

Most of our representatives sold out to this rank proposal of salvation that solidifies and enhances the stranglehold by the very ones who created this disaster - the privately owned Federal Reserve.

How you were represented:

(D) David Obey - supported

(D) Ron Kind - supported

(D) Gwen Moore - supported

(D) Tammy Baldwin - supported

(R) Paul Ryan - supported

(D) Herb Kohl - supported

(D) Russ Feingold - opposed

(R) Jim Sensenbrenner - opposed

(R) Thomas Petri - opposed

(D) Steve Kagen - opposed

No partisan blame fest will ever reveal the true source of why things are so bad and bound to get much worse.  The true source, the privately owned Federal Reserve, operates outside the illusional sphere of republican and democrat.  I urge all readers to search this out for yourselves.  It is of urgent importance that we look at what is going on and what these ‘packages’ really offer us, and take active measures to inform others on  the significance of what our own representatives have levied on us for generations to come, and make the extra effort that it will take to remove this loathsome lot.

The end is the beginning

We did well.  We jumped into this totally green in the beginning of June and pulled in 24% of the vote in just three months.  Imagine what we will do in next two years.

Thank you to all who supported this effort with time, money and talent.  Thank you to my wife Jill for her tireless diligence on the home front and constant encouragement.  Thank you to those that believed in the message and voted on principle.  Your effort will not be in vain.

This site will remain.  I hope you will subscribe (free).  By doing so you will simply be notified of new info being posted to the site.  In the next two years we’re going to take a closer look around inside the belly of the beast we call State Government.  You’ll be surprised what we find.  I guarantee it.

And two years from now…

I’ll be back.

Landowski signs Taxpayer Protection Pledge

The only way to curb spending is to hold the line on taxes.  This isn’t radical, its not ‘republican’, this is sensible.  Democratic Representative Wasserman on the North side has done it.  Democratic Representative Ziegelbauer in Manitowoc gets it.  I joined their ranks in signing the Americans for Tax Reform’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

As I’ve said before - the democratic tradition is not one of excessive taxation and spending.  It’s been a while but the realization is catching on that there is no need to relinquish to one party or the other the sensible idea of wise management of taxpayer money .

Announcement: 20th Assembly District Candidate Debate

Many thanks to the Garden District Neighborhood Association who have set up this debate in order for voters to make an informed decision. A big thank you as well to the Clarion Hotel for providing the space.

When: Thursday, September 4th at 7:30 PM

Where: Clarion Hotel. 5311 S. Howell Ave. Milwaukee 53221. Click here for a map.

From what I’ve heard the debate will be moderated by Alderman Terry Witkowski.

The other challenger, Steve Sutherland, refuses to attend the debate. “I have no desire to enter into a discussion with the other candidates or the people,” Sutherland said to one event organizer that previously set up a forum for candidates to talk about issues and answer questions from voters.

I look forward to meeting with those attending and I am eager to discuss the issues. Don’t miss it!

Affirmation from where you’d least expect

In my last post I proposed reduced spending and going back to reality by way of a part time legislature …for starters.

From the Journal Sentinel reporting on the 8th Assembly district race:

Colón counters that being a legislator is not a full-time job.

If it’s not full time then why is it full time?

Go figure.
